The location of the Mount Ulap Eco-Trail is a 9.4 km long point-to-point mountain trail within the Ampucao-Santa Fe mountain range in Itogon, Benguet, Philippines.
The 9.4 km long hiking trail leads a point-to-point mountain path from the starting point at Ampucao Barangay Hall to the exit point in Santa Fe exit in a 4-6-hour hike.
The Mount Ulap Eco-Trail is just 40 minutes from the summer capital of the Philippines, Baguio City.
Ampucao Santa Fe Mountain Range:
The Ampucao Santa Fe mountain range is located in Itogon Benguet between Ampucao and Santa Fe between Philex Road on one side and Kennon Road on the other. The height extends from 1277 m in Santa Fe, up to 1846 m at Mt. Ulap Summit, and 1497 m in Ampucao Barangay Hall.
History of the Mount Ulap Eco-Trail:
The most extraordinary thing, however, was on the 31. October 2015, a visionary Barangay from Ampucao opened this old mountain trail to hikers and named it Mount Ulap Eco-Trail. A new era of eco-tourism for all ages was born for adventurers and hikers as we know them today.
Mt. Ulap Trail Description:
A day hike in the footsteps of intrepid shepherds and hill tribes of history, the Eco-Trail mountain path slowly climbs over hill and dale filled with green meadows, Pinetrees, and an endless view of the mountain ridges of the Cordillera.
It begins at the Ampucao Barangay Hall at 1497 masl and winds its way along the 9.4 km long Ampucao Mountain Ridge, past the first tourist spot in Totomtombek. Corral Rock, Ambanaw-Paoay Peak, Plateau, Schauinsland Rock, and the infamous Gungal Rock formation to Mount Ulap Summit 1846 masl and ending in a precipitous descending path through the Pinewood Forest at Sta Fe Exit Point 1277 masl

Ulap Eco-Trail is different at each location, for example, in the Ampucao Barangay Hall 1497 meters above sea level, in Totomtombek 1559m, on Corral Rock 1633m, on Ambanaw-Paoay Peak 1788m, on the Plateau1724m, on Schauinsland Rock 1748m, on Gungal Rock 1814m, at Mount Ulap Summit 1846 masl and Santa Fe Exit Point 1277 masl. The hiking elevation difference from Mount Ulap Summit to the Santa Fe exit point amounts to 569 meters in total.
Trekking Time:
Mount Ulap hiking hours for the 9.4km long Eco-Trail are 4 to 6 hours. A day hike on the Eco-Trail to the summit of Mount Ulap is technically the easiest mountain trail for hikers of all ages that they can undoubtedly climb.

Mount Ulap history:
Over the past million years, continents have shifted and were enclosed in colossal ice sheets. Glaciers make up about a third of the earth's landmass. Tectonic plates are in motion, volcanoes shift and lift landmasses to form the Cordillera Mountains, and therein lies the Ampukao-Santa Fe Mountains. The first Philippine island likely appeared nearly 60 million years ago.
Evolution:
The Cordillera Mountains are not where archaeologists find ancient graves or hidden treasures nor the destination for dinosaur fossils or remains of other species that we have not seen for millions of years.
In other words, there were no dinosaurs in the Philippines because, in the first place, there was no Philippines during the time of the dinosaurs. The Philippines came into existence as an archipelago about 50 million years ago, during the Pleistocene Epoch. The first Philippine island likely surfaced nearly 60 million years ago – about five million years after the last of the dinosaurs died out.

Peak with a height of 1788meters, you have 360 degrees around the view of the Cordillera mountain ranges on one side, you can see the Arayat, Ugo, and Pulag mountains along the horizon and with the Agno river all the way to the Pangasinan area. There are breathtaking panoramic views of the massive Santo Tomas Mountain, a volcanic ridge just outside the city of Baguio.
